Ashland OR July 4, 2008
I spent the 4 with Michael, James, Jennifer, Pete and Mike’s girlfriend..(I can’t spell her name)- well the first half of the 4th was spent driving down to Jennifer’s parents in OR and the other half with Mike and gf.
James, Jen, Pete and l drove down on the 4th. We left Seattle around 8 arrived at Jennifer’s parent’s house around 11 for lunch. This was the mid way point to Ashland- this was my first meeting with Jennifer’s parents Duane and Marlene and can’t forget grandma (although l did forget her name)- we were treated to all sorts of goodies.
After lunch James and l were back on the road- Jen and Pete stayed behind….
We get in Ashland about 4ish- if you blink you would miss this town that’s how small the place is.
Mike leaves close to SOU- his gf attends school there.- we watched the fireworks from his place so it wasn’t too far to walk after the fabulous dinner we were fed.
Saturday we went to Crater lake- another 4 hours spent in the car..but the drive was beautiful and Crater Lake itself is amazing.
We had a little picnic on the water- of course we had to hike down about 3 miles and walk back up after we ate..
We were hoping to make it back to Ashland so we would catch a play- Ashland is known for its Shakespeare Festival. but no such luck, we did however make it back in time for the Greenshow (a free show highlighting up and coming artists) we saw a band called Medium Troy. Ate dinner at this great Italian place- I had my favorite butternut squash ravioli.
Sunday we headed back- we stopped and had brunch at the Sherfys and scoped up Pete and Jennifer- we of course didn’t leave empty handed l left with a 5lb head of cabbage. My parents will be eating cabbage soup for the next year..
